Elder Harper
Welcome
I started working in Christian ministry in the early 90’s when he was ordained an Elder in a large inner-city congregation. I have served in Christian ministry as a Youth Pastor, Parrish Elder, Minister of Visitation and more. My passion has always been to bring a practical understanding of God’s Word to seeking hearts. I believe that Christian writing of any type is similar to sermon preparation: When a preacher writes any type of text, whether poetry or scripture study, they are charged with revealing the truth of God’s word just as if they were standing in the pulpit and preaching on a Sunday morning.
I came to understand the urgent nature of a practical revelation of God applied to our daily life through growing up in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. When you witness and experience firsthand the rocks and shoals of life damaging and sinking lives, as well as people fighting to overcome these dangers, the Bible’s ability to rescue and heal is not theoretical but necessary for living.
I was introduced to the power of God to intercede in lives from watching my mother pray her way through life’s circumstances and her six Children. From the streets of Pittsburgh’s Hill District to combat tours in Vietnam, Mrs. Harper's children benefited from the practical application of Christian faith to daily living. Seeing things like my mother praying in the middle of the night because she knew when her sons would be starting their day in Vietnam ignited in me a passion to share the practical realities of the Christian faith.
I am a Pastor and author, but I primarily see myself in The Bible In Culture community as God’s butler. I serve in God’s house providing for the various needs of God’s people.
In 1st Peter 2:5 the Apostle wrote:
"You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ,"
As Managing Minister of The Bible In Culture I serve as a butler in that spiritual house, and it is my hope that you will allow me to serve you as you and I endeavor to serve Jesus in the world.
May God Continuously be with You,
Elder Vernon L. Harper
